Eric Devlin from Home of BBQ reviewed the Chipotle Sauce & Marinade on April 10, 2008: This sauce was used on pulled pork that was cooked low and slow with apple wood. Let’s clear something up right away. I’m pretty sure that ‘Borderline Gourmet’ is meant to imply that the food is gourmet and has a southwestern influence. It is not meant to be ‘borderline gourmet’ like I’m ‘borderline nuts’. It is quite clear that the dazzling array of food that they offer on their website seems to all be of the highest quality. B Gourmet, Inc.™ sauce comes in a beautiful and elegant bottle with a sophisticated but simple label. The sauce has a mild but pleasing aroma that does a great job of representing the taste that is offered...The sauce itself had a mild tomato and vinegar taste with an excellent underlining chipotle’ish’ flavor. The sauce would be well suited for chicken or even fish. The best use for stronger meats may be to use this sauce as the marinade that it is double billed as... If I’m setting up the smoker or heating up the grill and I’m looking for a sophisticated and nuanced sauce with a unique flavor profile, this is where I’m turning.
On March 10th of 2008, The Hot Zone Online reviewed the Habanero Gourmet Sauce & Marinade and is quoted as saying, "We both could easily see this sauce performing well as a marinade for meat, veggies, or whatever you like. Heck, we’d mix it with a little bit of olive oil and use it as habanero salad dressing as well. As for the BBQ, it’s a sauce that you’ll like lovingly slathered over whatever you cook…whether it’s in your oven or on your grill. This sauce is a promising start for Borderline Gourmet, and we look forward to our next review of their sauces as well. Try it for yourself and see what you think. Enjoy!"

On June 10th of 2009, The El Paso Times did a write up on B Gourmet's cooking classes:
Little Emerils: Cooking classes seasoned with fun

EL PASO -- While she watches her young students chopping fresh basil and measuring oregano, crushed red pepper and garlic powder, a small smile creeps across Mia Loya's face.
She can't help thinking that the next Gordon Ramsey, Bobby Flay or Rachael Ray is sitting right there rolling dough for breadsticks or tossing greens for a garden salad.

"Even young children can cook an exquisite meal. Kids can do all kinds of things if given the opportunity," says Loya, who teaches children's cooking classes in her East Side kitchen at B Gourmet.
"The boys have been tremendous; the boys have been awesome. There are a lot of stereotypes that cooking is just a girl's interest. I can tell you right now that the most interest has come from the boys. A lot of them want to grow up to be chefs, and some of them are doing it just for fun."
At a recent Saturday afternoon class, five of the eight children were boys, including 11-year-old Jonathan De La Riva, who has been taking classes for about a month.
"When we had our first class, we made some chicken strips and they showed us how to make them crunchy," Jonathan said. "It was cool. I went home and cooked them for my parents. I want to learn some more things to cook."
Eight-year-old Josh Gandara has been in six classes. His favorite class has been the ice-cream-making session.
"I liked making the French vanilla ice cream," Josh said. "I also made chicken strips for my parents. Those were my mom's favorites. She keeps asking me to make them for her."
Global warming: Area chile masters get ready to compete:

EL PASO -- East El Pasoan Mia Loya is not intimidated by the competition her homemade gourmet sauces, marinades and rubs will face in one of the fiercest fiery food competitions in the world.
Matter of fact, she looks forward to out-heating the competition.
Loya likes it hot. If she didn't, she wouldn't call El Paso home.

Loya plans on entering six of her chile sauces in the annual Scovie Awards, which recognize top fiery foods products from around the globe. Loya owns B Gourmet Barbecue & Spices, a local retailer that sells gourmet sauces, marinades and rubs created using her own recipes.
The winners will be announced (and available) at the 22nd Annual National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show on March 5-7 at the Sandia Resort & Casino in Albuquerque. The deadline to enter the Scovie Awards is Sept. 5. Log on to www.fiery-foods.com for more details.
Fort Hancock resident Gale Carr, who is no stranger to competitive cook-offs and festivals, also plans to enter the Scovie Awards.
The owner and general manager of Chipotle Texas Chile Factory and Outlet Store in Fort Hancock just returned from the America's Best Professional Food Competition in Anaheim, Calf., with three awards: first place
in the Table Condiments Division with the Fiesta Garlic Blend,
first place in the Dip Cookoff with the Smoked Heat Dip and second place in the General Snack Division with his Smokin' Hot Popcorn Chipotle Cheddar Cheese.
Carr said it's sometimes difficult to gauge the taste buds of judges unfamiliar with the burn of good Southwestern chile.
